One click. Nine years. Gone.

The YouTube team has admitted that the popular Bitcoin education channel BTC Sessions was mistakenly taken down - after running for nine years.

Here’s what happened:

  • First, the channel’s creator announced on X that his nine-year project had been wiped out: YouTube terminated the channel, froze his account, and made all videos inaccessible.
  • Then he shared YouTube’s response, which claimed the channel was promoting “illegal activities” - a violation of platform policy.
  • Only after public backlash did YouTube reverse its decision and promise to restore access to the content.

What I’m really curious about is this: will the channel’s creator leave the videos on YouTube, or will he move them to his own server - where no one can take them down or block access?

To me, it’s very similar to something we’ve seen many times in crypto: when an exchange freezes a user’s funds over some vague suspicion, asks for documents and explanations, and then apologizes and unfreezes everything. People usually react in one of two ways:

  1. “The exchange did the right thing in the end - this proves they’re trustworthy.”
  2. “If they froze my assets once, they can do it again - and who knows if I’ll get them back next time?”

Some people trust the platform even more after an incident like this. Others withdraw everything and start looking for alternative ways to swap crypto - like using rabbit.io.

What about you? How would you respond in these situations - whether it’s a YouTube channel takedown or a crypto exchange freezing your funds?
