Roger Ver on Bitcoin, the CIA, and Shifting Narratives

Roger Ver, one of Bitcoin Cash’s creators, recently spoke with Tucker Carlson, discussing ideas around abandoning the dollar and adopting Bitcoin. But one comment stood out: Ver claims that by 2012, CIA and FBI agents had infiltrated crypto forums. Their goal was to shift the conversation from “Bitcoin as new money” to “Bitcoin as speculation.”

I got into Bitcoin in 2012, and back then, speculation wasn’t the focus. The common belief was:
1️⃣ Bitcoin represents the future.
2️⃣ Therefore, demand will increase.
3️⃣ Consequently, mining will get harder and more expensive.

No one was urging people to buy Bitcoin just to sell it for more dollars. The advice was to mine while you still could and claim BTC from faucets while they lasted.

But Ver’s claim resonates - though I recall this trend starting later. At one point, any mention of “Bitcoin is the future” would be drowned out by voices pushing quick profits and hoarding BTC for dollar gains.

Were these voices planted agents? 🤔 Interestingly, some of these accounts later promoted stablecoins, which now dominate crypto transactions. Was this a deliberate diversion from Bitcoin's threat to fiat?

Whatever the truth, you can always swap stablecoins for Bitcoin - and back - at rabbit.io.
